昨天我们推送一篇关于Eagle Talon Tsi的改装案例,其实在去年的1月份,我们的EVOJ同学曾经给这辆车以及车主Devin Schultz做过专访,话不多说,接下来让我们再回顾一下这次的专访吧。

EVOJ:How about a quick personalintroduction about yourself?
请先做一个简短的自我介绍吧。
Devin:My name is Devin, and I am the owner and tuner of Boostin Performance. I have beeninvolved with wrenching on cars since I was 16, and took that love and passionfor cars, and transformed them into a career.
我叫做Devin,是Boostin Performance的所有者以及改装技师。我从16岁开始就一直在做一些车辆机械相关的事情。在之后我将对于车子的热爱以及热情转化为了我的事业(开办了Boostin Performance)。
EVOJ:What is the first car you own? Howyou like it? Any mods on it?
你的第一辆车是什么呢?你有多喜欢这辆车?有对其做任何改装么?
Devin:1989 Dodge Daytona Shelby. This was my first turbocharged car, after admiring my brother'sDodge Daytona CS(Carol Shelby). When I was younger, I use to sit in thepassenger seat of his car, and watch the boost gauge and could hear the soundof the turbo. I thought this was the coolest thing ever, and this is whatstarted my love for turbocharged cars. By the time that I sold my Dodge DaytonaShelby, I had pretty much touched everything on the car, modding each itemmyself.
1989年的Dodge Daytona Shelby是我的第一辆涡轮增压车,这之前我一直很羡慕我哥哥的Dodge Daytona CS(Carroll Shelby)。
在我年轻的时候我经常坐在他车子的副驾驶席上,看着显示涡轮增压值的仪表以及聆听者涡轮增压器工作的声音。

EVOJ:What is the first car you tuned?
第一辆由你去调教的车子是哪一辆?
Devin:My 1989 Dodge Daytona. I tuned it using an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and aMAP clamp, which is a very primitive tuning device.
我第一辆调校的车是我之前提到的那辆1989年款的Dodge Daytona。我当时使用了一个可调的燃油压力调节器以及通过一种相对古老的调教方式(接线到MAP Sensor上从而达到调教车辆性能的目的)进行了对于这辆车的调教。
EVOJ:What is the car you tuned thatimpressed you most?
在你调教过的所有车子里,最让你印象深刻的是哪辆呢?
Devin:Nissan GT-R(R35). Its impressive how easily these cars make power, and how responsive theyare to tuning changes.
日产GTR (R35)是让我最为印象深刻的。GTR能够轻松的产生马力(这里是指GTR能够很轻松的刷出各种马力数值,同时驾驶者在行驶过程中也能够很直接的得到这种大马力的回馈)并且对于每一次调教上的变化都能做出反馈。
EVOJ:What is your Daily Driving car?
你的日常用车是什么?
Devin:2016 Dodge Ram 3500 Mega-Cab Dually
2016年的Dodge Ram 3500 Mega-Cab Dually.(好吧,这句话其实没有必要翻译的哈哈。单就车辆名称而言,确实是没有翻译的必要。具体3500长什么样子,下图比较直观。)
EVOJ:What is your dream car?
你的梦想之车是哪款?
Devin:The R35 that I already have. I've driven everything from Lamborghini's to Ferrari's toPorsche's and more, and in my opinion, these cars don't compare to the feel ofthe R35.
是我已经拥有的GTR R35。我几乎把从兰博基尼到法拉利再到保时捷等一系列的车都开了个遍,然而我就我个人的感受而言,这些车的驾驶感受都没有R35来的好!

EVOJ:Why did you open this store? Or whatmade you to open Boostin?
为什么会想要开这家店呢?换言之是什么致使你开办了Boostin?
Devin:Afterworking at other performance shops, I felt that running my own shop wassomething that I could do, and I wanted to work for myself instead of workingfor someone else.
在不同的改装店工作了一段时间之后我认为开一家自己的店是我应该并且也可以做到的事情,同时,我想要为我自己工作而不再是为其他人的店工作。
EVOJ:What does Boostin Performance mean toyou?(A store? You Child? Or anything else?)
Boostin Performance对于你而言意味着什么?(一家店?你的孩子?或者其他的一些什么?)
Devin:Fulfillingthe American Dream - being able to take what you love and enjoy, and make aliving out of it. To be able to share your love and passion for this sport withall of my customer's and others within this industry.
实现了我的美国梦:从事于自己热爱并且真正享受的事业,并且以此而生活。能够将自己对于这项运动的热爱和热情分享给客户以及这个圈子里的其他人。(EVOJ在看到这个回复的时候都很激动呢。Devin是真的深爱着这项运动,并且愿意为之奉献很多。)
作为Red Demon的驾驶者
EVOJ:When did you start the Red Demonproject?
你是从什么时候开始的Red Demon的这项计划?
Devin:I don't rememberthe exact date that I started, but I've been involved with this platform forover 13 years. The Red Demon was originally my daily driven vehicle that I'dtake to school and work. Over the years of modifying the car myself, its growninto the record setting vehicle that it is today. My original plan for the carwas not for it to be the car that it is today - modifying the car and racing itwas something that I did for fun. As my love for racing grew, so did the goalsthat I had for the car, which was to go faster and faster.
我并不能够记起具体是什么时候开始这项计划的,但是我已经进行了13年了。Red Demon最初是作为我去学校和工作之用的日常代步车。
在我动手改装它的这些年里,它逐渐变成了现如今这辆破纪录的车子。
我最初的计划并不是现如今像大家所看到的这样,其实改装这辆车并且用它来参加比赛是我当初用来获得乐趣的一种方式。随着我对赛车的热爱,我对这辆车的目标就是要它越来越快。
EVOJ:Why chose to build the 2G DSM?
为什么选择了来改造一辆2G DSM呢?
Devin:A group ofmy friends had DSM's (1G & 2G), when I had a FWD car at the time. I wassick of spinning the tires and wanted the traction that I saw my friends havingwith their AWD DSM's.
当我在开前驱车的时候我有一些开DSM的朋友,他们其中有人开1G也有人开2G。我当时对于轮胎打滑这件事特别苦恼和郁闷,我特别想像我这些开四驱DSM的朋友一样获得足够的轮胎摩擦力和牵引力。
EVOJ:What is the most unforgettable memoryduring the build?
对于你而言,改造Red Demon的这些年里最难忘的一段记忆是什么?
Devin:WinningChitown's King of The Streets (KOTS) here at a local track in Wisconsin acouple of years ago. This was the first time that the organizers for this eventallowed AWD cars, and I won my class being the first AWD to do it.
最难忘的记忆当属几年前在威斯康星的赛道上赢得了Chitown’s King of the Streets(KOTS)这项赛事。当年是赛事组织方第一次允许AWD也就是全轮驱动的车子参加这项赛事,我赢得了我所在组别的冠军,并且是第一辆赢得该奖项的AWD车子。
EVOJ在这里来简要解释一下这个KOTS。
该赛事分为春季和秋季两场,分别进行3天的比拼。报名参加的车辆分为汽车和摩托车两个组别,每个组别内又细分出了5个和3个总计8个小组。
该赛事从最初的地区性赛事逐渐发展为全美性直线加速盛会,来自美国和加拿大多地的车队均有参加。比赛的赛道则是选择了地处威斯康星州的 Great Lakes Dragaway。
这是一条标准的直线加速赛跑道。
我本人和整个Wisconsin EVO Owners团队都经常会选择在赛道对外开放日的时候来这里跑一跑,所以对这条赛道十分熟悉,整体感觉上就是管理很规范,并且有很多时候会遇到真正意义上的直线加速赛车来这里通过这种开放日的活动来调整车辆自身的设定等等;这条赛道在整个中西部地区和五大湖地区都有着很高的知名度。

EVOJ:How’s the first reaction when youfirst broke the world record?
在你打破世界纪录之后,你的第一反应是什么?
Devin:It's not somuch my reaction, but my team's reaction that means a lot to me. I have noidea, sitting at the end of the track, how fast the pass is, until my team getsthere. Seeing the excitement, happiness, and reactions from my team as theydrive up to me, is what I love the most.
其实就我个人而言我是没什么太大反应的,但是我们这整个团队对打破世界纪录这件事的反应对于我意味着很多。
我其实都不知道我究竟开了多快,我只是坐在车里,冲过了终点线,并且停在赛道的尽头,直到我们团队的其他成员赶了过来。
看到他们脸上的激动、开心以及他们赶过来这一路上的动作,这一切的反应也正是我最爱的一部分。
EVOJ:How’s the feeling when you launch theRed Demon under the huge G-Force?
能谈一谈你在弹射起步的时候的感受么?那种感觉想必是很独特的吧,由Red Demon所带来的巨大的瞬间G值。
Devin:After yearsof drag racing, I've almost learned to ignore the lateral g-force motion. Whenyou're driving the car, you pay attention to the side to side movement, becausethat's the movement that you have to correct for as a driver. The car hasprogressed from an 11 second car (350whp) to what it is today, in very smallsteps, and in a progressive way. So, I never got into the car and was shockedby how fast it is because I've been involved in the transition over theyears.
在经历了多年的直线加速赛之后,我已经几乎学会了忽视横向重力移动了。
当你在驾驶一辆车的时候,你需要对于车辆那些细微的左右移动作出相应的调整,因为这是对于一位车手而言最需要做出修正的地方。这辆车(Red Demon)是从一辆11秒(轮上350匹马力)的车一步步发展到现在的。
这个过程中每一个改变都是通过一小步一小步来逐渐进行的。所以我从来都不会被这辆车所震惊到,因为我经历了它这些年当中所有的升级和改变。
(这个回答非常具有教育意义,我实在是忍不住想要说一说。这种一步一个脚印的改装是我个人非常推崇的,一点点进行改装,和车子一起进化,这远比那些一下子就把车给爆改好之后自己完全不知道要如何正确操控甚至于把自己都吓得不敢开的改装方式要好太多了,车和人一样,都需要长久的陪伴才能真正了解到对方的脾气秉性。)
EVOJ:Red Demon is the quickest and fastest4 Cly AWD in the world now. Any plan in the future for the Red Demon?
Red Demon现在已经是04赛场上用时最短并且尾速最快的四缸全轮驱动车了。有任何关于它未来改装或者走向的计划么?
Devin:I'vealready exceeded my goals with the car. From here on out, I just want to havefun with the car, each time that I take it out, and not to be too concernedwith capturing another milestone.
现在的这一切已经远远超出了我对这辆车的初始计划了。
从现在开始,我想做的只是和这辆车一起获取乐趣;将来每次和它一起在赛道上并肩作战的时候我都不会再过多的考虑去获得另一个里程碑了。

Eagle Talon是一款由三菱和克莱斯勒合作打造的车型。这款车型诞生的原因,是三菱和克莱斯勒想要打造出一款价格更加经济的性能车型。
作为这款车系的首款亮相车型,Eagle Talon搭载了四驱系统,以及2.0升涡轮增压4G63发动机,能够输出190匹的马力,而车身重3100磅(约1400公斤)。
而之后的第二代Eagle Talon,较第一代提高了50%的车身刚度,并且加长了轴距。而在这一代里,Eagle Talon的动力输出则提升至了210匹马力(配备五速手动变速箱),或者205匹马力(配备三菱四速自动变速箱)。
在第二代的Eagle Talon上,我们能够同时获得底盘刚度,以及潜力无穷的4G63发动机。而正是这些特性,让部分车队将Eagle Talon搬上了直线加速竞技的舞台。
今天与大家分享的,就是一款为直线加速而生的Eagle Talon。潜力十足的4G63发动机在这款Eagle Talon上能够输出1400匹的马力。
